GDC Mobile: Zeemote unveils developer programme

SDK now available to developers that wish to create games compatible with the JS1 Bluetooth controller.

The Zeemote SDK for Java ME Version 1.0.0 includes a Programmer’s Guide, Javadoc API documentation, Java libraries, and two sample applications with source code.

Target mobile phones must be Bluetooth-enabled and support JSR-82, the Java API for Bluetooth, in order to use the SDK. Zeemote says additional OS versions are under development and announcements are forthcoming.

The JS1 controller made its public debut at Mobile World Congress .

Several developers and publishers have already created games for Zeemote as part of a seeding programme, including Eidos, Finblade, Fishlabs, Super Happy Fun Fun and SEGA of America.

Beth Marcus, CEO, Zeemote, said: "We’re excited about helping developers unleash their creativity to finally make mobile games a comfortable and immersive experience that lives up to their full potential. The exciting tactile experience of the JS1 controller in the hands of consumers will increase awareness for our partners and their games generating more revenue with existing customers and attracting new ones as well.”
