After touring with Bring me the Horizon on their monstorous 2007 tour, the Architects are back with two brand spanking new tracks. Their latest album "Ruin" showed the band's technical wizardry along with their math -inspired jagged rythyms. "We're all alone" shows the bands trademark sound with Sam Carter's screaming vocals ,Dan Searle's complicated drum fills and jagged riffs from both guitarists, and mid way through it slows down to reveal an awesome harmonised vocal section, and sounds killer. "Broken Clocks" is much the same metal / mathcore but at a faster pace, and really does showcase the intense riffing that these guitarists are pulling off, no simple 3 chords here.
The Dead Swans are relativly new band if I'm not mistaken, not too long ago released their first album "Southern Blue", and acorrding to TDON records there sound is: "american nightmare style hardcore with a slight metal touch", and I sure can't argue with that, no metal band adding "core" to their name to sound cool here. "In the Half light" starts with a haunting riff and goes on to their dark, hardcore fast stylings with Nicholas's dementing screaming (which near enough sounds exactly like Sam Carters) , before going into something of a Sludge style riffing near the end which sounds awesome. "Swallow" is the uncomprising hardcore punk song guaranteed to crush a few skulls in a pit, with it's fast drumming, and in-your-face screaming. Awesome two tracks and definitely a band to look out for in the future.
If you can, download or buy this E.P, it will get plenty of listens for Architect's technical melodic math and Dead Swans blend of Hardcore and slight twist ofsludge at the ends.
