Handango, Carphone Warehouse ink retail deal

Smartphone content provider Handango announced a new distribution partnership with European mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse. Handango and Carphone Warehouse will inaugurate the partnership with a collection of applications including ringtones, mobile games and IM services optimized specifically for the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone. Carphone Warehouse now boasts 2,400 brick-and-mortar stores across 11 markets. "With this deal, we are redefining the way smartphone content is distributed to the customer by working directly with retailers to effectively market and merchandise the content at the point of device purchase," said Handango CEO Bill Stone in a prepared statement. "Our partnership with Carphone Warehouse not only serves as an incredible opportunity to expand our retail distribution in Europe but also provides a platform for us to create new initiatives that educate and add value to their customers on the endless capabilities of their devices."
