FunMobility Acquires Photo-Editing Company Moblastic
FunMobility, the Pleasanton, Calif.-based company that sells mobile content such as ringtones and wallpapers, said today it is acquiring Seattle-based Moblastic, which develops mobile photo-editing technology. Details of the acquisition, including the purchase price, were not disclosed. Release.
FunMobility said the Moblastic acquisition fits in with its new products, including PhotoFun, an application that allows users to decorate pictures on their phone, and MyShow, which creates slideshows on the phone. Moblastic's technology lets users add animated glitter and sparkles, text bubbles and other features to photos on their phones. Moblastic also has mobile slideshow technology that is embedded in some social networks, including Facebook. FunMobility said founders Jang Kim and Joseph Corral will be joining the company's direct-to-consumer group. More on Moblastic's blog today.
Last June, FunMobility bought InfoSpace Media Studios (formerly Moviso). At that time, it had about 120 employees between the LA and its Pleasanton offices.
