iPhone SDK downloaded 100,000 times

Apple's iPhone SDK had been downloaded 100,000 times since its release on March 6th.

The free beta iPhone SDK provides developers with the same set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and tools that Apple uses to create its native applications for iPhone and iPod touch.

Content created using the SDK can be sold via the new iPhone/iPod touch App Store, where developers can set the price for their content and retain 70 percent of all revenue.

The iPhone SDK can be downloaded at developer.apple.com/iphone/program.

Gameloft, Namco, Popcap, AOL, Electronic Arts, Epocrates, Salesforce.com and Sega have already demonstrated applications built using the SDK.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s SVP of worldwide product marketing, said: "Developer reaction to the iPhone SDK has been incredible with more than 100,000 downloads in the first four days. Also, over one million people have watched the launch video on Apple.com, further demonstrating the incredible interest developers have in creating applications for the iPhone."
