Loopt, Filter team for location-based SXSW content
Social-mapping and communication service Loopt announced a partnership with marketing and design agency Filter Creative Group to deliver real-time, location-based broadcasting from the annual South by Southwest Music Festival, taking place now through March 18 in Austin, Texas. Eight correspondents from Filter magazine will cover SXSW from March 12 to March 16, providing location-specific mobile commentary to alert attendees to the most promising bands, events and parties. Loopt and Filter will also target non-attendees via geo-tagged updates, photos and information broadcast to Loopt's fledgling Facebook application, "Loopt: Where It Is," which enables consumers to share their location, status and photos with friends.
"By partnering with Loopt, our on-the-ground team can disperse around Austin and then quickly share what is happening and more importantly, where it is happening," said Filter Creative Group CEO Alan Miller in a prepared statement. "With so many great bands and events going on at the same time, music fans can rely on us to help navigate the festival and find the best parties." SXSW 2008 is scheduled to feature more than 1,500 bands performing at over 70 Austin-area venues.
