Myxer intros Mobile Music Toolkit

Ad-supported mobile content community Myxer announced its Mobile Music Toolkit, promising independent bands and labels the means to share and promote songs, photos and videos as well as ringtones and wallpapers directly from their own website, MySpace profile or blog. According to Myxer, the Mobile Music Toolkit includes new MyxerTags--i.e, short text codes enabling listeners access to mobile content and artist information directly from their phones--as well as Fanlists, which offers updates on new releases, concert information and related news. Myxer will additionally introduce Pick of the Day, spotlighting a piece of content from its catalog on the Myxer homepage--the company said Pick of the Day exposure translates to roughly 7,000 mobile content downloads that particular day. Bands will also have the option to give away their content as part of promotional efforts or set their own premium download prices.

According to Myxer, users are now downloading more than 15 million pieces of mobile content from the site each month. More than 300,000 free ringtones, wallpapers, videos and games are currently available from over 15,000 content providers, including some 13,000 independent artists.
