Verizon launches new Eisner series The All-for-Nots
Verizon Wireless announced it will team with former Disney chief Michael Eisner's independent digital media studio, Vuguru to launch the original series The All-for-Nots via the operator's V Cast Video service. Created by Thom Woodley and Kathleen Grace of Dinosaur Diorama Productions, The All-for-Nots offers a mockumentary-style look at a fictional indie rock band as it travels the U.S. on an ill-fated tour spanning 24 cities, each the subject of one of the series seven-to-10 minute episodes. The weekly series, which is sponsored by Chrysler and Expedia, debuts Tuesday and airs weekly through August 2008.
Verizon Wireless and Vuguru previously teamed on the studio's first digital series, Prom Queen-according to a recent New York Times , the murder mystery, also distributed across MySpace and other websites, was viewed by nearly 20 million people following its debut last spring. "Verizon Wireless' V Cast service is a clear leader in the mobile video space and partnering with them for the second time on an original web series was an objective from the very start of this production," said Eisner in a prepared statement. "Short-form video is a popular source of entertainment for young, early adopters of new media, and that feature of The All-for-Nots makes it perfect for viewing on a mobile platform."
