Yahoo Unveils Mobile Content Organization Tool onePlace; Launches Go 3.0 And Widgets In Europe
A slew of Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) announcements around mobile today:
— Yahoo onePlace: First up, the search giant has come up with a new application that helps consumers manage all their bits of content on their phone. Yahoo! onePlace lets users put their content in a single location and organize it through "smart" bookmarks and four additional personalized views.
For example, users can bookmark to news feeds, websites, videos, images, emails, search queries among others. The application keeps a list of the bookmarks and automatically updates them through the day. onePlace also sifts the content into other personalized "views", which include Collections, Categories, Pulse and Favorites. Collections let users group content based on a single subject. For example, if a user is planning a vacation, they can create a "holiday collection," and store all of their relevant content links in it. Under Categories, onePlace automatically organizes content by subjects—such as local businesses or sports, for example. Pulse shows all the latest updates to your content. For example, if a consumer is linked to a sports team, it will automatically update game scores. Favorites collects the content a consumer uses the most often.
Yahoo is launching onePlace with oneConnect, its mobile social service aggregator it debuted at Mobile World Congress sometime in the second quarter of Q2.
— Yahoo Go 3.0: Yahoo also announced the European roll-out for Yahoo Go 3.0, its "all-in-one" mobile application that was launched in the US in January. It is launching Go in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK at the end of the second quarter.
