Miss Playboy Mobile 2008 model search underway

Venerable men's magazine Playboy announced the inaugural Miss Playboy Mobile 2008 model search, a new competition inviting "sophisticated, sexy women" (per the press release) to register and build digital profiles in their quest for fame and fortune. To enter, women 18 and over can register and submit their photos for initial voting at the Miss Playboy Mobile website; first round voting is already underway, and concludes March 15. A second round of voting extends from March 16 through March 31, and a champion will be crowned April 2 in Las Vegas during the annual CTIA Wireless 2008 trade event. The winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a professional photo shoot at Los Angeles' famed Playboy Mansion. According to Playboy, readers may ogle their favorite candidates either online or via mobile, but must cast all votes on their wireless handsets. (Insert your own jokes here.)

"We are very excited about the inaugural Miss Playboy Mobile search, one of many new mobile initiatives we are launching this year," said Playboy Enterprises' senior VP and GM of mobile and international online Edward Lang in a prepared statement. "This campaign is entirely consumer-driven--from submissions to voting--and we designed it specifically to reflect the fun and sexy lifestyle shared by Playboy fans and mobile consumers."
